Rick has more than 25 years of experience working with individuals, families and their closely held entities. He serves as the Strategic Planning Partner of Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management.
Prior to co-founding Durbin Bennett in 1987, Rick was a Tax Manager in the Austin, Texas office of Price Waterhouse Coopers, serving as Director of Financial Services.
Rick is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Public Accountant with a Personal Financial Specialist credential. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Public Accountants, the Estate Planning Council of Central Texas and the International Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board). Rick graduated from The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and participates in a variety of community and professional activities.
In his free time, Rick enjoys golf and cycling. A little-known fact about Rick? His father was the Concert Master of the Houston Symphony.
As a partner and senior advisor, Tylor is entrusted with advising clients and providing them with a personalized experience.
Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Tylor worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors, a global asset management firm with more than $400 billion in assets. In that role, he consulted for top independent financial advisors in the country on investments, business strategy and client experience. He has since brought knowledge of those best practices to Durbin Bennett. Before Dimensional Fund Advisors, Tylor held positions with the Austin Technology Incubator and for the office of angel investor, Lowell Lebermann.
Tylor is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin’s Master of Business Administration program and Plan II Honors program. He holds both the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Chartered Financial Analyst certifications, and is a member of the CFA Society of Austin.
Always full of surprises, Tylor says his spirit animal is the Turritopsis Dohrnii, or the “immortal jellyfish” (we had to Google it). It is the only creature on planet Earth that lives forever.
Margaret is not only responsible for cultivating our client experience, but also for managing the firm’s human capital, compliance, technology and other strategic initiatives. She has more than 15 years of experience in the wealth management industry, serving in various roles within client service, relationship management, portfolio administration, marketing, compliance and information technology. Margaret has happily been with our team since 2012.
Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Margaret spent eight years at Bingham, Osborn & Scarborough, LLC, a wealth management firm in San Francisco specializing in investment management and financial planning. While there, she managed and oversaw the internal business operations, helping the firm grow from $500 million in assets under management to more than $2 billion. Margaret also served as a former consultant to a startup registered investment advisor (RIA) firm where she helped develop a strategic plan for their operations and technology. She began her financial services career at the Capital Group, a private global investment management company, and was one of five participants in their highly selective global rotation associates program.
Margaret holds a Master of Science in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in both International Relations and East Asian studies from Brown University. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and is a board member of the local Austin, Texas chapter of the Financial Planning Association, chairing their Women’s Initiative program. She serves on the Development Council of Breakthrough Central Texas and was a former member of the Schwab Technology, Operations & Service Advisory Board.
Margaret is married and has three sons. Along with being involved in her local community, Margaret loves dark chocolate. If she could travel to one place in the world, it would be the Great Barrier Reef to enjoy the crystal blue water and the diverse sea-life.
As chief investment officer, Matt’s primary role is developing the overall investment strategy for client portfolios, leading the firm’s investment research efforts and chairing the Investment Committee. Matt joined Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management in 2004 and prior to his current role was the senior portfolio manager. He began his career working for Enron Corporation in Houston, Texas. While at Enron, his responsibilities included evaluation and due diligence of private equity investments for industrial firms, as well as management of a long/short equity portfolio of technology stocks for an Enron sponsored hedge fund.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and petroleum refining from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, with a concentration in finance as well as a specialization in investment management. While at the University of Texas, Matt served as a member of the MBA Investment Fund, LLC. Matt is a Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder (CFA) and has earned the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation (CAIA). He is also currently a board member of the CFA Society of Austin.
When he isn’t at work, Matt loves watching college football (he is extremely competitive), spending time with his kids and dogs, and working out. He hopes to visit Italy someday to experience its beauty, amazing culture and people.
As a senior advisor, Paul works closely with our clients and collaborates with their advisors to provide integrated wealth management advice and counsel to create custom solutions to best achieve their goals and objectives. Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management in 2006, Paul was with Bernstein Investment Research and Management as an investment planning analyst. In this role, Paul acted as a liaison between his clients and their professional advisors to develop high-level investment strategies to solve complex wealth management issues with a primary focus on financial planning.
Paul has a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Paul is a University of Texas sports fan and has a deep passion for food, wine, and craft beer experiences. Fun fact! Paul once spent two months on the Big Island in Hawaii with his brother on sabbatical.
As a portfolio manager, Cherry is responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities for investment process improvement and other capabilities to achieve business results. Cherry has been a part of our team since 2015.
Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Cherry worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors, a global asset management firm with more than $400 billion in assets. While there, she supported regional directors in business development and client service activities. She began her financial services career at Loring Ward, a Turnkey Asset Management program serving in various roles within operations and portfolio strategy.
Cherry has a Bachelor of Science in finance from Santa Clara University. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement® (CIPM) designations and is a member of the CFA Society of Austin.
Before going into finance, Cherry had a passion for fashion. When it comes to traveling, she believes the happiest people in the world live in Fiji and would love to visit one day.
As an advisor, Angela works closely with clients to develop customized wealth management strategies to enable them to achieve their goals and objectives. She has been a part of our team since 2017.
Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Angela worked for seven years as a financial advisor at a large independent wealth management firm outside of Dallas. In that role, she oversaw a variety of functions including completing client reviews and financial plans, managing a team of service representatives, serving on the investment committee and implementing the investment strategy for each client of the firm. Above all, she was instrumental in ensuring a positive client experience.
Angela graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and has previously served on the board for Destination Imagination and Young Business Leaders.
A little known fact about Angela? She likes to create floral arrangements! She also enjoys playing tennis, boating and traveling, and her Netflix account is most likely streaming The Office.
As an advisor, Ashley works with clients to develop customized strategies to help them achieve their financial objectives. She has been a part of our team since 2017.
Prior to Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, she served as a Wealth Advisor at IberiaBank in New Orleans, La. In that role, she focused on creating comprehensive financial plans for high net worth individuals. This included working with clients’ other advisors to create holistic solutions that informed portfolio implementation.
Ashley earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Texas A&M University and her Master of Science in family financial planning from the University of Alabama. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Ashley loves walking Town Lake Trail in her neighborhood with her husband and two sons. She spent her honeymoon in South Africa and is itching to go again someday. Another fun fact about Ashley? She and her husband went on a four-month trip in their Airstream to visit as many national parks as they could for the National Park centennial.

Prior to Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Shelby worked as a business valuation analyst at an accounting firm in Louisville, Ky. In that role, he performed business valuations and analyzed the operations of numerous companies in industries such as manufacturing, energy, equine, professional services and hospitality. He has experience performing business valuations in a variety of contexts including gift and estate tax, mergers and acquisitions and divorce litigation.
Shelby earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Kentucky. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Most people don’t know that Shelby once Airbnb’d in a mud hut in the Sahara Desert. He loves staying active, seeing comedy shows and learning new things (like how to Airbnb in a mud hut). His guilty pleasure is watching Law and Order, but whose isn’t?
As an advisor, Janie works closely with clients to develop customized wealth management strategies to enable them to achieve their goals and objectives. She has been a part of our team since 2016.
Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Janie began her professional career in the financial services industry at Kestra Financial (formerly NFP Advisor Services). She served in a number of roles, most recently as account operations manager, supervising a team of 60 account services specialists who were responsible for all aspects of account establishment and maintenance. Previously, she served as a client experience specialist for Kestra, where she focused on developing and implementing solutions for a world-class client experience.
Janie currently holds a Series 66 Uniform Combined State Law license, and previously held a Series 7 General Securities License and a Series 24 General Securities Principal license. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in southwest studies, with additional focuses in urban studies and Spanish, from Colorado College.
Janie and her husband foster animals for Austin Pets Alive! Since 2012, hundreds of cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies have spent time in their home before they found their forever home. They specialize in fostering pregnant dogs and Janie considers herself a doggy midwife since she has helped deliver dozens of puppies. Her favorite thing to do in her spare time is a craft and create special items for her friends and family.
As a senior operations specialist, Branko assists our advisory team in a wide variety of client service-related endeavors including portfolio administration, client reporting, and other account operations.
Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Branko began his career in financial services at Kestra Financial (formerly NFP Advisor Services). He was one of three account services supervisors managing a large team of in-house and overseas account services specialists responsible for establishing and maintaining client accounts. He also designed and implemented a variety of workflow improvements and processes to further expand Kestra’s award-winning client service experience. Prior to his role as a supervisor, he spent time working at NFP’s Trade Desk as a trade risk analyst.
Branko attended Texas State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. While at Texas State University he participated in the McCoy Student Management Investment Fund where he was an equity analyst for the industrials/materials and energy sectors, as well as the compliance manager for the fund. He currently holds a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt as well as the Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination license.
On weekends, Venezuelan-born Branko likes to devote his time to building and racing cars. He can spend hours modifying vehicles and won’t notice the time fly by. Attending the F1 Grand Prix in Monaco is at the top of his bucket list.
Constance began her professional career in the financial services industry at Charles Schwab & Co. as a client service specialist. Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, she worked at Kestra Financial (formerly NFP Advisor Services) as a senior operations specialist. In this role, she supported financial advisors in various operational and client service activities. She also implemented internal procedures that enabled the operations department to function more efficiently. During her time in the financial services industry, she has worked with both clients and financial advisors. This experience has granted her a “big picture perspective” which allows her to understand how processes affect both the client and the advisor.
Constance holds a Series 7 General Securities license, Series 63 Uniform Securities Agent license, and Series 65 Uniform Invest Advisor License.
When she’s not at work, you can find Constance eating brunch or studying YouTube tutorials for her next creations. She has never read The Catcher and the Rye, but that’s ok; we’re sure someone can give her Cliff's notes.
Dianne works with our team of advisors as an operations specialist responsible for account maintenance, reporting, and client communications. She has been in the wealth management industry since 1996, most recently serving as operations manager at Enclave Advisors, LLC.
Dianne moved from Tennessee to Austin, Texas in 2013. She is a Texas Notary Public and an active member of the Texas Wall Street Women. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in public relations at Middle Tennessee State University.
A little known fact about Dianne? She grew up riding horses and considers the majestic creature her spirit animal. She hopes to travel to Italy someday to experience the rich history, food, and wine, and she has a passion for running around Town Lake and being outdoors.
Kat supports our advisory team in a number of capacities including client services, account maintenance and financial reporting.
Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Kat began her professional career in the financial services industry at Goldman Sachs in Houston, Texas. She collaborated with an eight-person team managing $4 billion in assets to provide institutions, foundations and ultra-high net worth individuals with tailored asset allocation solutions and portfolio management. Kat was responsible for the execution of daily operations involving implementation of investment-related transactions, preparation of performance reviews, compliance initiatives, client on-boarding, and asset transfers. After leaving Goldman Sachs, Kat served as an investor relation senior associate for Vida Capital, a multi-billion dollar alternative asset manager specializing in non-correlated investment strategies, where she primarily managed the due diligence process for both prospective and existing institutional investors.
Kat holds a Series 7 General Securities License and a Series 66 Uniform Combined State Law license. She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance.
Kat is proud to have gotten to ring the New York Stock Exchange opening bell not once, but twice. In her spare time, Kat enjoys running around Town Lake, learning how to cook and keeping up with the most popular TV shows (her guilty pleasure is The Bachelor!).
As an Operations Specialist, Taylor assists our advisory team with portfolio administration and client communications. She also assists with account maintenance and financial reporting.
Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Taylor worked as a festivals accounting specialist at C3 Presents LLC, a subsidiary of Live Nation Entertainment Inc. She joined C3 at the peak of the acquisition in 2015, aiding and overseeing the transition and increased demands of a public company and financial regime. During her four years with C3, she traveled across the United States, where she worked onsite to serve the vast financial needs that go into producing mass festivals. This experience provided her with a strong accounting platform to jumpstart her finance career.
Taylor graduated with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in economics.
In her free time, Taylor loves seeking out live music (easy to do in the Live Music Capital of the World!) and exploring Town Lake and the greenbelt. Tiff’s Treats is her weakness, but who doesn’t love a batch of warm cookies?
As an investment operations analyst, Kwabena is responsible for executing and streamlining our investment processes and procedures. He handles various portfolio administration and performance reporting needs of the firm. Prior to joining Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Kwabena worked at The Vanguard Group Inc. as an investment professional, helping clients with their asset allocation and investment objectives.
He graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Bases of Behavior. His studies concentrated on exploring neuropathy through the diathesis-stress model. Kwabena also spent some time at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as a health policy research intern. His research was mainly focused on the intersection of electronic medical records and patient safety. In his free time, Kwabena enjoys playing soccer, hiking and watching movies. He also loves cooking, reading and playing a riveting game of Settlers of Catan.
April serves clients of Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management as a wealth management specialist. She joined our team in 2001 and has been involved in many aspects of the firm, including client services, account maintenance, compliance, and financial reporting.
Previously, April was the controller at Lakeside Capital Partners, a family office management company in Dallas that provides accounting, tax and wealth management services to affluent individuals and families. April played an integral role in establishing the infrastructure of Lakeside Capital Partners. She had many responsibilities but focused primarily on financial reporting and cash management issues for multiple individuals and family-owned entities. She was also instrumental in researching and developing standard procedures to account for numerous private equity investments. Prior to joining Lakeside Capital Partners, April was an audit senior in the Dallas office of Ernst & Young, LLP, where she specialized in the financial services and technology industries.
April graduated cum laude from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting. In her free time, you can find April on the golf course, cooking, reading a good book or watching baseball.
Jay works with our Lead Advisors to develop and execute custom wealth management strategies for our clients. In addition, he supports our clients in a number of capacities including financial reporting, money movement and account maintenance.
Prior to Durbin Bennett Private Wealth Management, Jay began his career in Los Angeles as an Analyst at AdvicePeriod for a team managing the investments and estate plans of the company’s wealthiest UHNW families. Jay was an integral member of the relationship management team where he assisted Advisors to illustrate complex financial plans and fulfill portfolio needs. He recently came back to Austin as an Advisor for Redbud Advisors. He worked closely with the Founders to deliver a concierge wealth management experience for HNW families and family offices. In addition, he independently managed all day to day client service. He is a strong advocate of the fiduciary standard in wealth management and is constantly seeking new technology to enhance the client experience.
Jay earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance at The University of Texas at Austin. He holds a FINRA Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser License and is currently studying to obtain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation.
When Jay’s not at work, you’ll find him involved in his community and trying new things. Last year, he embarked on a national tour as an Indian stand-up comic and coached a middle school basketball team. His favorite restaurant in Austin is Taco Deli. Ask him about his favorite salsa there (Hint: 60/40 is more than just an investment allocation).
